Cruise Line Loyalty Programs

You don’t have to have sailed on a dozen cruises to enroll in a cruise line loyalty program. All of the lines allow customers to become members either before or after their first sailing and start earning points right away. Sign up, and you’ll receive extras like complimentary Internet access and laundry services, just for booking multiple cruises with the same line. So what exactly do you get, and when? We researched all of the cruise lines’ loyalty programs:

Enroll online or by phone after first cruise.

How it works: You earn 1 credit for any sailing up to 11 nights, 1 credit for 12 or more nights, and 1 if you book a suite.

Adventurer, 1-4 credits: Onboard party, membership hostess, welcome gift, savings on onboard bookings of future cruises, 85 minutes of Internet, 10% off spa services.

Enroll online before first cruise or anytime after.

How it works: Earn 1 point for every day you sail.

Blue, 0 points/first sailing: Exclusive members-only offers and newsletter.

Red, 24 points/second sailing: Plus a beverage at Punchliner Comedy Brunch.

Gold, 25-74 points: Plus a cocktail party on 5+ day sailings.

Loyalty Program: Captain’s Club

Enroll online before your first cruise.

How it works: You earn 1 credit for sailing, 1 credit for a sailing of 12+ nights, and 1 for booking concierge class, aqua class, or a suite.

Preview, 0 points: Newsletter, loyalty desk member service center, onboard booking discounts of future cruises.

Classic, 2-149 points: Plus 10% off Internet, celebration event, loyalty host onboard, special offers, presailing restaurant reservations, annual member cruise, 1 cabin category upgrade when available.

Enroll by email, phone, or onboard after first cruise.

How it works: You earn 100 points for every day you cruise and 40 points for every $70 spent onboard.

Club Aquamarine, up to 2,000 points: Special website and number, dedicated staff member to answer questions, cocktail and photo with ship’s captain, fruit basket, birthday and anniversary cakes, chocolate in cabin on gala nights, 10% off select merchandise.

Club Coral, 2,001-5,000 points: Plus a welcome gift, privileged boarding, bottle of wine.

Club Pearl, 5,001+ points: Plus a departure gift, $10 in casino chips, luggage pickup for privileged disembarkation, dinner menu delivered to stateroom, priority seating at dinner, a dinner at Club Restaurant.

Loyalty Program: Crystal Society

Enrolled automatically after first cruise; membership package mailed to your home.

How it works: You must book a full-fare cruise of 7+ nights to be enrolled.

All members: Savings on every voyage, shipboard credits, cocktail party on every voyage, ability to preview new itineraries and fares, first mailing of brochures, subscription to Passport magazine, Milestone Rewards, penthouse upgrades for various milestones, Crystal Society host on every voyage, special email offers.

Cunard Line

Loyalty Program: World Club

Enrolled automatically after first cruise.

How it works: Membership level is based on number of voyages or number of days sailed.

Silver, 1 voyage: 5% off Early Booking Fare, notification of special offers from sales specialist onboard, access to World Club desk for any questions, newsletter, members-only section online.

Gold, 2 voyages or 20 days sailed: Plus 2 hours of Internet, cocktail party, preferred reservations at specialty restaurant.

Platinum, 7 voyages or 70 days sailed: Plus 20% off dry cleaning and laundry, priority check-in and embarkation, wine tasting, cocktail party, 4 hours of Internet, 10%off luggage transports, disembarkation lounge.

How it works: The benefits are based on how many cruises you complete.

Enrolled automatically after first cruise.

How it works: You earn 1 credit each day you sail, plus extra credits for booking suites and spending onboard.

Star Mariner, after first cruise: Embarkation lunch and Champagne brunch, gift, subscription to Mariner magazine, discounts on sailings, 50% off for 3rd/4th guest in stateroom on select sailings.

2-Star Mariner, 30 credits: Plus a ship photo, 10% discount on logo clothing, 15% discount in online shop, annual cruise planner.

3-Star Mariner, 75 credits: Plus a 25% discount on specialty restaurants, wine packages, beverages in Explorations Café, minibar purchases, discounts on select spa treatments, advance info on new itineraries, waiver for air deviation fees so you can get the cruise line’s airfare rates but still choose your flights.

Loyalty Program: MSC Club 

Enroll online after first cruise.

How it works: You earn 1 point for every night on a cruise.

Classic, 1-21 points: 5% cruise fare discount, preferential check-in, welcome cocktail, dedicated member area for answers to questions, 1 point for every $200 spent onboard, 20% off minibar and laundry services, 5% discount on spa treatments and logo clothing.

Silver, 22-42 points: Plus 8% off cruise fare, 10% off spa treatments and logo clothing, 5% off photos, fruit basket, 1-hour thermal suite session, $10 casino coupon, 10% off specialty restaurants for 2, 10% off Internet.

How it works: You earn 1 point per cruise night, 1 point per night for a suite or in the Haven, 1 point per night when booking sailing 9 months in advance, and 1 point per night when booking using Latitudes Insider Offer.

Bronze, 1-19 points: Insider offers on select sailings, Latitudes Rewards online magazine, priority check-in, onboard representative, members-only cocktail party, onboard discounts, ship pin.

Silver, 20-47 points: Plus a 15% discount on photos and spa services, nightly chocolates in room, onboard gathering with ship officers.

How it works: You earn 1 credit for cruises up to 24 days, 2 credits for 25-34 days, 3 credits for 35-44 days, 4 credits for 45-54 days, and 5 credits for 55+ days.

Blue, 2-4 credits: Membership pin, cocktail reception, members-only offers, advanced notice on new itineraries, 10% discount on logo merchandise.

Bronze, 5-9 credits: Plus a $200 onboard credit, 20% discount on Internet.

How it works: Membership levels depend on how many cruises you’ve completed. Booking a suite or sailing solo and paying exclusive occupancy fare count as 2 cruises.
