Off Season Rates in NOLA

by Katherine J »

Hello Friends,

I am planning 4 days mid-week in July, which is doubtless the most off-off season New Orleans has. I am seeing some rate reductions for air and hotel, but not much! Any experience when these will go down? I'm looking for the sweet spot....can't wait too long and be caught out, but want to get the most for my $$.

From what city will you be flying?

You'd think it would be off season but a lot of cruise ships leave from there, and people stay in NOLA before and after their cruises. I doubt that rates are going to go down.

Thanks, I went ahead and bought my flights out of DC for about $250 r/t.

I will wait until after June 1 to book hotel, though, I see that the Marriott chains and Starwood (Le Meridien, Sheraton, etc) are offering 20% off but it's still pretty pricey.

Here's a second query for any VRBO owners out there: do you drop your rates in off season? With the fees and deposits, I could well stay at Le Meridien for current asking price. Not seeking to undercut anyone, just an honest question from someone needing to squeeze the buffalo, as they say :-)
