Safety in Egypt

by LaylaWalidah »

Few years ago Egypt was not safe due to some political issues but now the condition is very good there. Anyone can visit there without facing any obstacles.

Before two or three years ago Egypt was not safe. But now Egypt is fully safe to travel. Recently I had gone to Egypt with my friends. We stayed and travelled there safely. If you have any fears you can take help of any travel company in Egypt. I know a travel company that is Oriental Tours Egypt. This travel company helped us for traveling in Egypt. If you want to know about that company you can visit: www [dot] orientaltoursegypt[dot]com

Hmm, I see Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (Egypt's foremost terrorist organization) pledged their support to ISIS earlier this week. I'm taking a wait and see attitude towards Egyptian travel until I get a level of confidence that Egypt is effectively able to deal with this latest threat to the stability of the nation.

I understand the wait and see. But if my husband and I listened to the media instead of reading on Frommers and trip advisors from people who actually have been to Egypt we wouldn't have gone. So don't listen to the Media. They get paid to tell stories. Yes things happen. They happen everywhere. If you want to live your life in fear, what kind of life is that. Read what people who aren't getting paid and who aren't focused on " A Story"  to see what it's really going on on what kind of things they experienced. My husband and I still talk about that trip. We have traveled and our trip to Egypt is without a doubt the best trip we ever took. The people there are absolutely wonderful. If your interested on a good travel guide google Mohamed Fawzy.

Egypt is a wonderful destination and yes, the vast majority of the people there are fantastic. I've traveled quite extensively in the Arab world and know first hand the hospitality extended to visitors.

Don't confuse prudence with fear. A prudent person evaluates risk and with ISIS confirmed as moving into Egypt this past weekend consider what that means. These terrorists aren't stupid. They know what tourism means to Egypt and what a disruption in tourism will do to the Egyptian government. I have friends that live outside Cairo and while they aren't scared, they are very concerned about the potential of further violence. Hence my friends and I are in a "let's see what happens" mode for the next several weeks.

We just got back from our second trip to Egypt, the first being in 2008, before the 2011 revolution. This most recent tour was with Viking. To us, the security situation seems similar to 2008. Since a 1997 European tourist bus attack in Luxor, the Egyptian government has taken tourist security very seriously, as tourism is 15% of their economy. As in 2008, tour buses have an armed guard riding within the bus, and each bus is followed by a tourist police car containing 4 armed officers. There are numerous armed police check points on all roads, more frequent near and around tourist areas. Tourist sites, such as the Egypt Museum in Cairo, have concrete barriers surrounding building entrances and several layers of scanners, with a large police presence. Larger hotels have this level of security with explosive sniffing dogs and vehicle trunk and undercarriage inspections and limited ability of vehicles to approach the building. The security rivals US embassies. These measures were in place in 2008 and are not new since the revolution. There was essentially a military dictatorship in 2008, as there is today. We felt very secure during our entire trip. I walked for an hour through Aswan and felt very comfortable. I would not recommend independently traveling through Egypt today or in 2008, as only rare signs are written in Latin script and few Egyptian speak any English unless they are involved in the tourist industry. I would advise using a tour group, and our experience with Viking was excellent. Any visitor to Cairo, Paris, New York, or Copenhagen needs to have “situational awareness”. One needs to be aware of their surroundings and who is approaching them. Eyes open and brain turned on. Don't wait, go to Egypt. See the most ancient of civilizations. Be overwhelmed by the age, size, and grandeur of the temples, tombs, and pyramids. We have been to many interesting places all over the world. Egypt is number one on our list. GO TO EGYPT, NOW!!

My friends just got back from Egypt in safely. As we all know Egypt is a fascinating place and good ancient  of civilization place, but there is some place like Cairo, Alexandria etc, in where terrorists continue to plan attacks and attacks could be discriminating or without prior warning. There is also threat of kidnapping, particularly in remote desert areas. Foreigners could be targeted in tourist resorts or other locations frequented by foreigners. Previous attacks have almost exclusively targeted the security forces, their facilities and other government buildings. The area to which the FCO advice against all but essential travel does not include the tourist areas along the Nile River (e.g. Luxor, Qina, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings) or the Red Sea Resorts of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. You should take great care near those places. Just obey the rules of FCO and you can enjoy your trip.

Hi, Egypt can be travelled without any problems.I visited that place by Mantis Tourism & Attractions but never felt unsafe or in particular danger. In reality the Egyptian people are very welcoming and kind to tourists and that is generally the more common experience.I hope you will have a positive experience after getting there.
