Set in northern Dalmatia, this national park is known for its dramatic scenery: karst mountains plowed into place during the last Ice Age. The park has two famous valleys—Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica—each of which are beloved by climbers (the park is considered the best for that sport in this corner of Europe). Hiking is also quite popular, as is birding (close to 300 species are endemic to the park).
