Newly decorated in nautical red, white, and blue, with some drapes and linens sewn by one of the owners, the Commander's rooms come in seven styles. Most have sleeping space right inside the door with sitting areas by the balcony. All of them have kitchenettes and flatscreen TVs. Cabana Suites, located in a four-story building behind the main hotel, have balconies overlooking the outdoor pool. Captain's Suites, located on the corners, offer wraparound balconies with chaise lounges. The majority of rooms are oceanfront. Although the rooms are called suites, they are really long rooms with separate sleeping and sitting areas divided by the kitchenette. The Commander has owned this piece of Ocean City since the 1930s—and it remains a good choice for those who love the beach and the boardwalk.
