About a half-block west of Broadway, John’s has the top pizza in the area, served in a soaring, elegant space that was once a church (you can still see the lovely stained-glass windows in places). But come hungry! John’s serves only large full pies big enough for two—no slices—and they are potently, tomatoey, charred, thin-crusted circles of delight. You can also order salads and pastas, but it’s the pizza that’s exceptional.
