Occupying a (you guessed it) converted paper factory, many rooms here look like film sets, an illusion enhanced by the use of actual movie lights (massive round ones) as lamps. The ceilings are soaring, the furnishings quirky and fun, with reclaimed furniture and original works of art on the walls. I like the guest rooms on the fifth level best, as the floors are wood rather than concrete (which also means this is the quietest floor, and that’s important, as there’s often street noise, too, here and your farther from it on the top floor).  The subway’s half a block away, and in two stops you’re in Manhattan.
