Churches and hotels are the main tenants of this little corner of Queens; I counted half a dozen of each on my last visit. But the hotel that bestows the most blessings in the vicinity—I can’t comment on the churches—would have to be the New York City Vista (formerly known as the Nesva). Its prices are consistently lower than its neighbors, but the hotel is buffered from the sound of a nearby above-ground subway by another hotel standing between it and the tracks—a big plus. Rooms are can be worn looking but they’re clean. The nearby subway stop is just a two-stop hop from Manhattan.
