• Visit the Biodôme de Montréal: Perhaps the most engaging attraction in the city for younger children. The Biodôme houses replications of four ecosystems: a Laurentian forest; the St. Lawrence marine system; a polar environment; and, most appealingly, a tropical rainforest.
  • Spend a Day at the Centre des Sciences de Montréal: Running the length of a central pier in Vieux-Port, this ambitious science center, geared especially toward ages 9 to 14, has permanent interactive displays as well as special exhibits on everything from sharks and dinosaurs to the archeological adventures of Indiana Jones. It’s also home to a popular IMAX theater.
  • La Ronde Amusement Park: Part of the Six Flags empire, this amusement park has roller coasters galore, a Ferris Wheel, and 12 rides for the little kids (carousels, minitrains and the like).
  • Go to church: That church is the Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal, and you'll want to visit when the awe-inspiring sound-and-light show Aura is on (early evenings, mostly). During the course of the show, wizardly projection, lighting and sound effects drown the place in a flood, create a forest inside the sanctuary and pick out the various elements of this architectural masterpiece in a way that wows both young and old.
