Some nightclubs, restaurants, and bars position themselves as supper clubs: all-in-one venues where you go for drinks, stay for dinner, and then hang around drinking and possibly dancing until closing. Nightclubs can be exclusive—waiting in line is an unfortunate reality—and while there aren’t dress codes for women (except what seems to be an unwritten rule that the shorter the dress, the more likely you are to be let in), some clubs have rules for men prohibiting baseball caps, sneakers, T-shirts, and messy jeans. Regular bars stay open until 3am. In 2014, the city tested out allowing select bars on rue Crescent and rue St-Denis to stay open until 6am; ask during your visit if that test has been extended.
