Super-central and unquestionably memorable, it’s the tastiest graveyard in town! Under the sanctuary of the historic St Martin-in-the-Fields church at Trafalgar Square, atop the gravestones of 18th-century Londoners, one of the West End’s sharpest bargains is served. The menu at this dependable 200-seat cafeteria changes monthly, but the large portions always include a few hot meat main dishes, a vegetarian choice, soups, salads topped with meats, and sweet apple crumble with custard; there’s also fish and chips on Friday. The church keeps the draft beer and the wine (even by the bottle) flowing, and afternoon tea is but £10—so is Sunday roast. It’s fun, delicious, central, and a budget savior.
