As you enter La Fortuna from the east, you’ll see the massive volcano directly in front of you. The main road into town, CR142, passes through the center of La Fortuna and then out toward Tabacón and the volcano. La Fortuna is only a few streets wide, with almost all the hotels, restaurants, and shops clustered along the main street and around the small central park.

You’ll find several information and tour-booking offices, as well as a couple of pharmacies, general stores, ATMs, and laundry facilities within a few blocks of the town’s central park and church. If you need assistance, call the Tourist Police at (tel) 2479-7257.
