Vegetarians and vegans are the main customers at this laid-back restaurant with a Bohemian atmosphere (it would be at home on any college campus). For people with dietery restrictions, staff can prepare dishes free of wheat, garlic, onion, yeast, or other ingredients (gluten-free dishes are identified on the menu), but there are plenty of healthy choices to keep carnivores happy, too. Food is made from scratch daily, using natural and organic ingredients like local vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and soy. You might want to start with the sesame tofu skewers or the sweet potato fries with chili and herb salt and served with a roasted garlic tofu dip, followed, perhaps, by one of the generous salads. Mains include pizza (like the mushroom pizza with oyster, shiitake and button mushrooms, plus roasted garlic, mozzarella cheese, fresh thyme, lemon zest, black truffle oil, and rocket lettuce) and the popular spicy tempeh burger with tomato, rocket lettuce, pickled onions, jalapeno, mozzarella, Life barbecue sauce, and tofu mayonnaise. Sandwiches, quiche, sweet potato curry, and other light fare are added to the lunch menu, and drinks include fresh juices, smoothies, fair-trade coffee, and organic beer and wine, with happy hour prices Monday to Friday 4 to 7pm and weekends noon to 7pm. In the evenings, you can also dine on the restaurant's rooftop terrace. This restaurant is easy to find, just off Hollywood Road beside the Central–Mid-Levels Escalator. And if you're looking for takeout, the ground-floor deli offers salads, sandwiches, pastries, and drinks.
