The extraordinary private art collection of Argentina’s wealthiest woman, Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, is on display in a modernist concrete, steel, and glass building designed by Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly in the swanky Puerto Madero neighborhood. It includes a portrait of the lady herself by Warhol, and many works by her granddaughter, Amalia Amoedo. Acclaimed Argentine artists include Antonio Berni, Fernando Fader, and Carlos Alonso, while Dalí, Turner, and Brueghel are also represented. Mrs. Fortabat's elegance is the stuff of legends, and spending the afternoon here allows you to admire her immense wealth, refinement, and exceptionally good taste.
