Biograd na moru translates to "Biograd on the sea." Located about half an hour's drive southeast of Zadar, it's a huge resort town catering to families. In medieval times, Biograd was home to many aristocrats, but in the early 12th century (1115-25), the city was taken over and destroyed by the Venetians, rebuilt, and destroyed again by the Turks in the mid-17th century. There isn't much left that's older than 18th century except its magnificent waterfront location.
