On the ground floor of the Pavillon Faubourg St-Germain hotel (the building where James Joyce once lived), this gorgeous restaurant packs a flavorful punch. Orange velvet chairs, wood panels and an Art-Deco- style tile floor provide a chic background for chef Thibault Sombardier’s exceptional brasserie dishes, like meunière-style frogs legs with ginger, a giant Paris-Deauville vol-au-vent (a pastry cup filled with seafood, with mushroom sauce) and sweetbreads with capers. Desserts—think almond and apricot soufflé, chocolate mousse, peaches poached in champagne— are just as satisfying. Wash everything down with a wine from their 22-page list and you’ve got yourself a memorable meal.
